During the recent holiday season, Russell Books and Parametric Pro Consulting supported children’s literacy by donating over $2,000 of children’s books to local elementary schools.
VICTORIA, January 12, 2022 - In December 2021, Russell Books and Parametric Pro Consulting continued the spirit of giving this holiday season by donating over $2,000 of children’s books to local elementary schools across Greater Victoria.
Russell Books is a third-generation, family-owned bookstore located in downtown Victoria. For nearly 31 years, the bookstore has proudly supported reading and literacy through participation in community events and partnerships with local groups and organizations. This support continued when the bookstore was recently approached by Parametric Pro Consulting, a local consulting firm specializing in strategy, finance and real estate. After discovering there was an opportunity to add more quality children’s books to his son’s elementary school library, Parametric Pro Consulting’s Vice President, Nic Green, knew that Canada’s largest independent bookstore would be the right place to help.
“My wife volunteers at my child’s public school library,” said Nic. “Being advocates for children’s literacy has always been our passion. Russell Books and Parametric Pro Consulting know future leaders start with early readers.”
After reaching out, Nic sat down with Russell Books’ co-owner, Andrea Minter, to discuss how the two could work together to support early literacy. With a collection of new and gently used books, Andrea helped Nic select a range of books that would best fit the needs of the elementary schools. After hours of browsing and tagging, Parametric Pro Consulting purchased over $2,000 of children’s books, from fiction to non-fiction and picture to chapter books. By the end of the holiday season, the books were delivered to elementary school libraries across the city for students to enjoy in the new year.
